Editorial Standards and Corrections

Franchise Sports Media (FSM) covers Las Vegas sports: the Raiders, Golden Knights, Aces, UNLV, the Aviators, Lights FC, and Las Vegas high school sports. We are also a sports photography and video company that athletes, families, teams, and businesses hire. This page explains how we report, how we credit our work, how we keep our business and our coverage separate, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

Who we are

Franchise Sports Media is owned by Dream HUB Enterprises, based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our publisher and editor is Terrance “TQ” Quaites. Our writers and photographers are credited by name on everything they produce, and each writer has an author page with their background and social links.

How we are funded

FSM is independent. We are paid for photography and videography work, for advertising and sponsorships on our site and channels, and for partnership content packages. No team, league, news corporation, or school owns or funds our news coverage.

Accuracy and sourcing

  • Scores and statistics for pro and college games come from the official box score and league data. When a writer’s number and the official box score disagree, the official box score wins.
  • High school scores come from our own crew at the game first. We confirm them with the schools, coaches, or official scorekeepers, and we treat third-party score sites as a secondary check, not the final word.
  • We never invent quotes, statistics, or details. Quotes come from our own interviews and press conferences. When we use a quote gathered by another outlet, we name that outlet.
  • Every article carries the writer’s byline and the date it was published. When we update a story with new information, the updated date changes too.
  • We follow Associated Press style for spelling, names, and numbers, in most cases

News, analysis and opinion

Our game recaps report what happened and include our writers’ analysis of why it happened. Columns and features from our writers and guest contributors carry their own byline and reflect that writer’s view. Guest contributors are held to the same accuracy standards as staff: a guest writer’s opinions are theirs, but their facts are checked.

Photos and video

  • Our photos and video are shot by FSM photographers and videographers, and each image is credited to the person who shot it.
  • When we use a photo from outside FSM, usually on a feature, it is credited to its source.
  • We make standard adjustments only: cropping, exposure, and color. We do not add, remove, or change anything in the scene of a news photo.
  • Graphics such as scorecards are clearly designed graphics, not photographs.

Our business and our coverage

Because FSM is also a photography and video company, some of the athletes, families, teams, and businesses we cover may also be our clients. Hiring FSM never buys news coverage, changes what we report, or affects who is chosen as Athlete of the Week. Our editors make those decisions on the merits.

Sponsors and partner content

  • Sponsor banners and ads are shown as ads.
  • Content a partner pays for is labeled “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” so it is never mistaken for our news reporting.
  • Sponsors and partners do not review, approve, or change our news coverage before it is published.

High school athletes and minors

Many of the athletes we cover are minors. We report on their public athletic achievements, and we require a parent or guardian’s consent before we publish an Athlete of the Week feature about a minor. A parent or guardian can ask us to review or remove a minor’s photo or personal details at any time by contacting us at the email below.

How we use software and AI tools

Our reporting, writing and photography are done by people. We use software, including AI tools, to help check spelling, grammar, and AP style, to suggest article summaries, and to draft social media captions. A person on our team reviews and publishes every article, and the writer and editor are responsible for everything in it.

Corrections

We work hard to get it right, and we fix it when we don’t.

  • To report an error, DM us or email info@franchisesportsmedia.com with “Correction” in the subject line, the link to the article, and what needs to change.
  • We review every request and, when we have made a factual mistake, correct it within one business day.
  • Factual corrections (a wrong score, stat, name, or fact) are noted at the bottom of the article with the date and what was changed.
  • Small fixes that do not change the facts, such as a typo, are corrected without a note.
