The UNLV men’s basketball team dominated Air Force in a 72-43 road win Wednesday night at Clune Arena. The blow-out victory avenged the Runnin’ Rebels’ loss from earlier this season to the Falcons and gave them their sixth win in their last seven games.

The Runnin’ Rebels were led by Rob Whaley Jr.’s 15 points and seven rebounds, while Brooklyn Hicks scored a career-high 12 points and Keylan Boone added 11 points. Kalib Boone led the Runnin’ Rebels in rebounds and blocks with eight and three, respectively.
Ethan Taylor was the only player in double-figure scoring for Air Force with 17 points. Kellan Boylan had a team-high five rebounds.
UNLV outscored Air Force in points in the paint 40-22 and out-rebounded the Falcons 44-19.

UNLV jumps out to a 5-point lead, 8-5, after a Keylan Boone jumper. Air Force cut the lead to 2 points, 10-8, after Beau Becker drained a three-pointer.

But the Runnin’ Rebels got going after a highlight play by Dedan Thomas Jr. The freshman sensation drove the lane from the top of the key, drawing two Falcon defenders, and that’s when he dished the rock between the two defenders to Kalib Boone for a dunk. The play got the UNLV bench on their feet and brought energy to the team.

Justin Webster knocked down the first UNLV three-pointer of the game, extending their NCAA record streak to 1,218 consecutive games and giving the Runnin’ Rebels a 5-point lead, 17-12. Rob Whaley Jr. extended the lead to 8 points, 22-14, at the 8:08 mark of the first half.

Jackie Johnson III gave UNLV a 10-point lead, 24-14, which gave the Runnin’ Rebels the distance they needed, and they never looked back. UNLV took a 13-point lead into halftime, 37-24, when Keylan Boone drained a jumper.
