Welcome to week eight of the Las Vegas high school football season.

League play is well underway, and the teams are looking to separate themselves from each other to see who will be the contenders and who are the pretenders for the playoffs. The FSM Prep Rally #1 team in the state, Bishop Gorman, remains undefeated at 7–0, followed by Liberty who is 5–2. But after that, all bets are off.

Arbor View came in at #3 at 2-4, but they are closely followed by Foothill, who is 6-1. Centennial, the best team in the 4A Division, is the #5 in the rankings due to their balanced play and dominance in their division. Shadow Ridge, Canyon Springs, Desert Pines, Faith Lutheran, and Slam Academy round out the top 10.

But teams like Basic, Green Valley, Sierra Vista, and Coronado are battling to crack the top 10.

It will be a race to the finish to see where teams line up and for the playoff seeding. Who will get hot at the right time to make a run for an NIAA state championship, or will be in a position to have their playoffs start earlier than they expect?

It’s time for some Las Vegas high school football action!

This week, the FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week is Green Valley, traveling to Foothill to take on the Falcons.

The Falcons high-scoring offense has led them to a 6–1 record and a place in the Top 5 of the FSM Prep Rally Top 10 Rankings. Mason Dew is one of the valley’s best quarterbacks. On the season, he has 24 touchdown passes. He has a pair of dangerous wide receivers in Ethan Stubbs and Terrell Mack-Lovely, both averaging over 80 yards a game.

The Gators enter the game 2–1 in league play after winning two straight. Last week, they beat Durango 43–27 as they were led by Trey Glasper, who had two interceptions, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion. Green Valley Head Football Coach Clay Mauro once coached at Foothill and knows the Falcons. We’ll see if he has something in store for them Friday night.

This is going to be a game That could be high-scoring, hard-hitting, and entertaining for all. Can Green Valley knock off the #4 ranked Falcons, or will Foothill show why they are one of the best teams in the city this season?

Who will win this game between Green Valley and Foothill in the FSM Game of the Week?

Here are some matchups from around the Valley that you should keep your eye on!

In other action around the city this week, Bishop Gorman travels north to take on Shadow Ridge in a 5A-D1 matchup. Liberty takes on their formal rival, Silverado, while Basic travels to Clark.

Desert Pines returns to action as they travel to Coronado to take on the streaking Cougars. The same can be said for Arbor View, who travels to Legacy to take on the Longhorns. Legacy is playing excellent football right now and is one of the hottest teams in the city. This could be a very intriguing matchup.

Canyon Springs will head to the Eastside to take on the Chaparral Cowboys, while Las Vegas High School travels to Sierra Vista. Palo Verde heads over to Spring Valley, and Durango will take on Faith Lutheran at home.

Lately, Lake Mead Christian Academy travels to take on White Pine, and Virgin Valley will take on #10 Slam Academy.

That’s your Las Vegas High School football Week 8 games to watch out for.
