This week’s FSM Prep Rally Game of the Week was Green Valley hosting Durango at The Swamp on Friday night.

Green Valley was looking to improve to 2-1. Trey Glasper intercepted a pass in the second series and returned it for a touchdown to give the Gators a 7-0 lead. Durango came right back to tie the game at seven apiece at the end of the first quarter.

Things got really fun and exciting in the second quarter. After Green Valley took a 14–7 lead, Treyvion Mitchell made what could be the catch of the year, as the Blazers wide receiver “mossed” the Gators defender en route to a touchdown to tie the game up. In the next series, Green Valley again took the lead on a Cris Dalina 1-yard touchdown run.

On the ensuing kickoff, Durango returned it for a touchdown to, once again, tie the game up at 21 apiece. The Blazers then recovered an onside kick. But on the next play, they threw an interception, and once again, it was Glasper.

But just one play later, Green Valley also threw an interception to give the Blazers the ball back. And on the next play, the Blazers again threw an interception. In four plays, there was an onside kick recovery and three interceptions.

Talk about exciting football.

But in the second half, Green Valley pulled away with a 43–27 win. On the night, Trey Glasper had two interceptions, a touchdown reception, and a two-point conversion for Green Valley. On the other side, Treyvion Mitchell had two touchdown receptions for Durango.

Next week, Durango takes on Faith Lutheran at home, while Green Valley travels to take on the Foothill Falcons in a matchup between two teams that have a legit shot of making a deep run in the playoffs.

The final score in the Liberty vs Cathedral Catholic game was the Patriots beating the Dons, 49-6.

Due to last week’s fight between Arbor View and Desert Pines, who had to forfeit that game, and this week’s games, Bishop Gorman and Liberty each got wins by way of forfeiture.

#3 Foothill traveled to Sierra Vista and came away with a 21–12 victory over the Mountain Lions. Under the Thursday night lights, #5 Centennial refocused and beat Bonanza 46–8.

In a battle that was the 4A championship game each of the past two seasons, #6 Shadow Ridge defeated Silverado 28–12 to avenge both losses. #8 Canyon Springs beat Del Sol 44–6

#10 Slam Academy defeated Meadows 50–0 and is showing why they are one of the toughest teams in the city. Coronado traveled north to take on Palo Verde and got a 49–48 win.

Lastly, Lake Mead Christian Academy unveiled brand new lights for their football field. They took on Lincoln County, who bounced them from the playoffs last year. The Eagles came away victorious with a 58–6 win and look like one of the better teams in the 2A division. Congrats to head coach Nate Oishi, Athletic Director Jay Schrader, the Eagles coaching staff, and players.

Liberty vs Cathedral Catholic was a blowout, but other teams played well, too.
