The Los Angeles Lakers improved to 39-32 after defeating the Indiana Pacers 150-145. It’s the first time they’ve been seven games above .500 this season. It was also Los Angeles highest point total since 1987.

With so much space and so much shooting, there’s going to be some high-scoring games throughout our league,” LeBron James said of the high-scoring game with the Pacers (295 total points scored).

The previous season-high in scoring was 145 in the double-overtime win over the Golden State Warriors.

Anthony Davis led the way with 36 points (15-of-21 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), 16 rebounds, and two steals. He’s averaging 38.5 points and 18 rebounds against the Pacers this season.

I just enjoy being his teammate,” Austin Reaves said of Davis. “Obviously, he makes life so much easier for everybody on the court.”

For the rest of the squad:

LeBron James had 26 points (8-of-19 FGs, 2-of-4 3s, 8-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, and ten assists.

Reaves had 25 points (6-of-13 FGs, 2-of-5 3s, 11-of-12 FTs), five rebounds, and eight assists.

Spencer Dinwiddie exploded for 26 points (8-of-11 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), five assists, and two blocks.

Tonight, he came out with that mindset, and it worked out,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said of Dinwiddie’s aggressiveness. “We needed every bit of it.”

I said last game, he started to find his way and he was aggressive last game,” Davis said of Dinwiddie. “He just carried that over by being himself. Hit some 3s. Attacking the basket. Being the Spencer that we need him to be.”

For the Pacers

Pascal Siakam led the charge with 36 points (16-of-29 FGs, 4-of-8 FTs) and 12 rebounds.

Myles Turner chipped in 20 points (7-of-12 FGs, 4-of-6 3s) and two blocks.

TJ McConnell came off the bench with 17 points (8-of-15 FGs) and seven assists.

Tyrese Haliburton was held to just 12 points (5-of-13 FGs, 2-of-6 3s) and ten assists.

I thought our guys really battled in this game,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. “There were just certain things that were impossible to overcome. A 27 free throw differential is one, and a 17-foul differential is the other.”

Consecutive offensive foul turnovers led to a pair of 3s for the Pacers on the other end, putting Indiana up by 11. The Lakers responded with a 7-0 run, capped by three free throws from Dinwiddie, who already had 10 points, to get back within four. Davis, through just one quarter, had 15 points and eight rebounds.

At the end of the first quarter, the Pacers led 36-30. James started slow (three points on 1-for-6 FGs). The Pacers’ pace, speed, and early offense were difficult for Los Angeles to match.

Jalen Smith’s minutes were rough for the Pacers. The dropoff from Turner to him as a rim protector was steep. With him on the floor, the Lakers feasted at the rim.

The Lakers were 0-5 when D’Angelo Russell didn’t play this season, but they didn’t have Dinwiddie in any of those games, and Dinwiddie was off to a great start with 12 points.

The Lakers trailed 34-23 with 1:23 left in the first quarter. Since then, they outscored the Pacers 18-6 to take a 41-40 lead with 9:58 left in the second quarter. The bench group of Jaxson Hayes, James, Taurean Prince, Max Christie, and Dinwiddie played well.

However, Indiana responded with an 11-2 run out of the timeout to take a 51-43 lead with just over eight minutes left in the second quarter.

Ham let Davis stay in with three fouls from the 5:35 mark of the second, when Los Angeles trailed by three, to the 1:01 mark of the period. Nonetheless, sticking with Davis worked out well. He was elite at playing without fouling.

Los Angeles outscored Indiana 42-32 in the second quarter, taking a 72-68 lead at halftime. Davis didn’t score in the second quarter and only grabbed one rebound as he battled foul trouble (three fouls in 18 minutes).

It was a nice push from the Lakers to start the third, with Dinwiddie hitting a pair of 3s and Reaves converting a short jumper to put Los Angeles up 80-70. Reaves was 5-for-6 from the field after starting 0-for-3.

The Lakers struggled to contain Siakam, who got into their paint and converted, but they scored almost every trip on the other end, with a three from Davis pushing the lead to 101-87.

James manipulated the pick-and-roll matchups to drag Turner away from the basket and Haliburton away from his help as the nearest defender. He used Haliburton’s hedge as the perfect opportunity to drive right past Turner and finish with a layup.

Los Angeles held a 116-99 lead at the end of three quarters. 116 is the most points the Lakers have scored through three quarters this season.

An 11-5 Indiana run with James and Davis resting to start the fourth had Ham calling a timeout at the 9:49 mark, Los Angeles’ lead was trimmed to 11.

The Pacers got as close as four with a big push in the fourth, but a James 3 and Davis layup restored a cushion at 136-127 with 2:55 to play. Indiana outscored the Lakers 18-14 over the remaining time, but it wasn’t enough to seal a comeback.

The Los Angeles Lakers will now take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, March 26th, at 4:30 pm PST. Thank you for visiting for your Las Vegas Sports news.
