The Los Angeles Lakers took on the Hawks at Crypto.com Arena on Monday night. At the Downtown L.A. Hoops Dojo, the Atlanta Hawks, who were without TraeYoung, and the Lakers faced off in a game L.A. needed to win. The Lakers got some good news with Anthony Davis back in the lineup after missing most of the Golden State Warriors game with an eye issue.

L.A. was able to cruise to a 136-105 victory and saw a team record get tied during the game.

The Lakers ended their 2-game losing streak behind LeBron James, who led the charge in the first half and ended the game with 25 points, seven rebounds, and ten assists. Davis also had a strong game, scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Rui Hachimura chipped in with 17 points. Austin Reaves pitched in for 12 points and four assists.

D’Angelo Russell knocked down five threes to tie Nick Van Exel for the most threes in a season in franchise history. He finished with 27 points and ten assists.

The Hawks came out hot in this one as Jalen Johnson had a big poster dunk on Reaves, and then Bogdan Bogdanovic hit back-to-back triples to give them an 11-2 lead. The Lakers responded from there, though, as Davis started to get going inside, and then James had a three-point play to take the lead.

James and Davis were both dominant from there as the Lakers continued to build their lead, with Max Christie also getting in on the action with five quick points off the bench. One of the most positive parts of this season has been Christie’s mentality of being ready whenever he’s called upon. He showed it again Monday night, providing a much-needed spark off the bench with 11 points.

After Reaves made a crafty layup to end the quarter, the Lakers had a 38-28 lead.

Johnson was tough for the Lakers to stop to begin the second, as his athleticism allowed him to easily get to the rim while Davis was on the bench.

James and Reaves got the Lakers back on track, though, as the latter found the former for a monstrous dunk, forcing a Hawks timeout with L.A. up 54-43.

D’Angelo Russell also got going from deep with a triple and a three-point play. The Hawks weren’t playing much defense as the Lakers were able to score with ease, with the Lakers taking a 73-59 lead into the halftime locker room.

The third quarter started with the Lakers looking shaky, which jump-started a little comeback for the Hawks, but it wasn’t enough for them to gain enough steam. L.A. had an answer each time Atlanta put their foot on the gas pedal. A 13-4 scoring run for the Lakers pushed their lead to 21.

Much of the third belonged to L.A., as the Hawks couldn’t find a shred of defense to stop the Lakers‘ offensive onslaught. Russell ended the quarter with a pair of threes, including a buzzer-beater, to give the Lakers a 25-point lead.

It was more of the same in the fourth quarter as Russell connected from deep again, which gave him 183 made 3-pointers on the season, tying former Lakers great Nick Van Exel’s franchise record. He was pulled from the game after that with the Lakers up 30, so he will gain sole possession with his next triple, potentially on Friday night.

Each player on the bench, except Maxwell Lewis, scored some points. The Hawks weren’t able to score 111 points, so Lakers fans attending the game were able to get tacos.

The Lakers would cruise to an easy 136-105 victory, closing out the Hawks without any issues.

The Los Angeles Lakers will return home to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, March 22nd, at 7:30 pm PST. Thank you for visiting FranchiseSportsMedia.com for your Las Vegas Sports news.
