The Vegas Golden Knights were in the closing seconds to finish the game and win their second straight game, but the Dallas Stars made a comeback late in the third and got the win in an overtime shootout 3-2.

After a good performance against the Calgary Flames, Laurent Brossoit was net again against the Stars.

The first period remained 0-0, despite the Golden Knights outshooting the Stars and having more scoring chances.

The second period started in the right way for Vegas, few minutes into the second the Stars were on a 5-on-3 power play advantage. But the Golden Knights penalty kill unit held off Dallas’s chances of scoring.

Just midway into the second, the Golden Knights finally got on the board after Michael Amadio hit a slap shot to make the score 1-0.

[Amadio’s] done a good job. He’s a guy over the years who’s been more a playmaker than a greasy guy,Bruce Cassidy said. “It’s what’s in front of him. Do you want to play? Do you want to play more? That’s the ask right now.

But just a couple minutes Wyatt Johnson tied the game 1-1, for the Stars after jamming the puck into an open net at the left post after he kicked a backdoor pass from teammate Ty Dellandrea.

The third period was quiet, but the Stars were getting more chances and shooting the puck more just as the Golden Knights were.

But almost past the midway point of the third period, the Golden Knights retook the lead after Jack Eichel scored after receiving a pass from Chandler Stephenson and tucking the puck past Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger’s pad to make the score 2-1.

The Golden Knights with a one-goal lead were almost closing in on a victory, but Dallas tied the game 37 seconds after Roope Hintz scored to tie the game 2-2, as the game went into overtime.

Vegas had good scoring chances in overtime but was not able to put the puck in the net. The highlight of the overtime came when Laurent Brossoit made probably the save of the season after having his back onto the net while lying on the ice, Brossoit whipped his arm backward in a circle windmill motion to stop Tyler Seguin’s shot in an open net.

‘Some of the best saves mean that you’re out of position, and I was,Brossoit said. ”I threw my glove at it, and luckily he shot at the one spot that I could’ve gotten it.

After a scoreless overtime, the game was now headed to a shootout, both Paul Cotter and Jack Eichel were unsuccessful in scoring but the Stars, Jason Robertson, and Roope Hintz scored to complete the comeback and get the victory over the Golden Knights 3-2.

We’ve been grinding,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. ”We needed a win. They played a great game, too. It was a really good game. Anybody that was at this game tonight got their money’s worth.”

In a losing effort for the Golden Knights, Laurent Brossoit played a tremendous game finishing with 41 saves, and is currently 1-0-2 in three starts since being recalled from the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League.

It’s three good ones. Should be three wins for [Brossoit]. Unfortunately, he only got the one,” Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said. “All the games have gone into extra time. He’s done his job very well for us. I’m happy for him. He’s a hard-working guy who’s worked to get back to this point now this year. It’s too bad we couldn’t put him in the win column every night. The big picture he’s given us solid goaltending.”

The Golden Knights vs Stars final score is 3-2.

The Golden Knights will hit the road when they play against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena on Monday. The puck drops at 6:00 pm. The game can be seen on  AT&T SportsNet (channel 313 on Cox Cable) or heard on 98.9 FM, FOX Sports Las Vegas 1340 AM.
