On Tuesday night, the Golden Knights were on the road in Seattle to take on the Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. The Golden Knights, who were down 4-2 in the final period, picked up a massive two points in the standings and moved nine points ahead of Seattle in the chase for one of the wild-card spots in the Western Conference with their thrilling 5-4 come-from-behind win.

The Golden Knights will have to pony up and pay Jonathan Marchessault sooner rather than later. Marchessault, who has been on a heater of late, scored his second goal of the game with 16 seconds left to force overtime, and then Jack Eichel took over. Eichel scored 3:01 into overtime, and the Golden Knights beat the Kraken 5-4 on Tuesday night.

“The desperation was for sure there, and that’s what our team needs for the remainder of our year,” Eichel said. “We need to be desperate every night, and points are at a premium. It was important to get two (points) tonight.

We’re aware of the standings and they’re behind us, chasing us, so to get away with the win was huge,” William Karlsson said after the game.

On the second Kraken power play, Eeli Tolvanen and Matty Beniers each had hot shots that Adin Hill saved, and then Andre Burakovsky fired wide on Hill to keep the game scoreless.

Tatar fed Beniers at the lip of the crease for a redirect, but Hill rejected the Kraken’s best scoring chance of the period. At the other end, b goalie Philipp Grubauer swallowed new Golden Knight Noah Hanafin’s drive down the slot.

And this is what happened to us a little bit on our previous road trip,Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said following the game. “We do this, and then give up the next one, making it 5-3, instead of us hanging in there and giving ourselves a chance at the end. And today, we did that better.
